December 2006 saw the launch of Lime Taxis, Australia's first luxury wheelchair-accessible taxi fleet. This initiative is the result of collaboration between a number of noted Australians, including Bill Moss AM, Lindsay Fox AO, and the Hon John Brown AO, with the aim of making it easier for people with mobility impairments to live and work in Sydney. Macquarie Bank Banking and Property Group Head, Bill Moss AM, trucking magnate, Lindsay Fox AO, and the Hon John Brown AO, have thrown their support behind the venture, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Macquarie Bank. Macquarie Bank is a member of the Australian Network on Disability. “This new fleet will help improve the lives of many Sydneysiders who – like myself - have found it difficult to access taxis,” Bill Moss, who has lived with muscular dystrophy for more than 20 years, said. “I am pleased to be involved in an initiative that will provide a social benefit – a benefit that, with the support of Macquarie Bank, will also be economically sustainable,” Mr Moss said. More information about Lime Taxis can be found on the website at www.limetaxis.com.au.
