Sydney Seminar - Reasonable Adjustments - 17th April

ESSENTIAL FRAMEWORKS - Embedding Reasonable Adjustments

At our recent Reasonable Adjustment seminar, speakers from IBM and the NSW Attorney General’s Department each gave a candid report on their policy and procedure approach to making reasonable adjustments for workers with disability.

Participants worked together and identified the key decision making points in developing your organisations Reasonable Adjustment Policy and Procedure and especially the critical issue of who pays.

David Mason from HREOC outlined the importance of the procurement process in future reasonable adjustments and potential costs and encouraged businesses to consider access for people with disability prior to purchase of equipment and systems.

Rob Gordon talked about Job Access, the DEWR funded information service on workplace adjustments and how JobAccess advisors can help employers to find out information and get workplace adjustments funded for eligible candidates with disability.   The response timeframe was highlighted as an essential issue for employers.  The Employers Network said they would provide feedback to JobAccess on the timeframes for response that are required for businesses to increase their take up of the services.

The Network on Disability can offer an excellent framework for you to work through your organisation’s policy and procedure for workplace adjustments.
