Since 2006, some APS agencies have been focusing on implementing the recommendations of the Management Advisory Committee Report No. 6: Employment of People with Disability in the APS and are making progress in improving the representation of employees with disability in their agencies. However, we know more needs to be done.

Since the release of the National Mental Health & Disability Employment Strategy, there has been increased interest in reversing the trend of decreasing numbers of people with disability employed across APS agencies.

The Australian Public Service Commission recently released Circular 2010/2 Engagement of people with disability through Disability Employment Service providers, as a strategy to make it easier for APS agencies to employ people with disability.

The Australian Public Service Commission and the Australian Network on Disability are pleased to present this joint ‘best practice forum’ where agency representatives will have an opportunity to share information and learn from each other’s experiences that may help them develop and implement more strategies for “Tapping the Talent of People with Disability”.
