Tony Egan, Treasurer
Tony Egan is Treasurer of IBM in Australia/New Zealand. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustee Directors for the IBM Australia Superannuation Fund and IBM New Zealand pension plan. Prior to this appointment in 2008, Tony was Financial Controller of the Business Process Outsourcing Business Unit for IBM A/NZ.
Tony joined IBM as a high school leaver in 1976 and took up a finance traineeship while completing a part-time Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of New South Wales. Starting in Accounting, he progressed through the Finance function at IBM managing a variety of Finance, HR and Operations departments including Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Compensation and Benefits, Pricing, Accounting and Budgeting. In 1990/1 he spent two years on assignment in the corporate budgets group at IBM Corporation headquarters in Armonk, New York. In 1995 he also worked in the Asia Pacific headquarters in Tokyo implementing a corporate-wide industry segmentation project for Finance across the region.
He was appointed IBM A/NZ Group Financial Controller in 1997 when IBM Australia managed an Asia Pacific Accounting Centre in Sydney. In the past 10 years he has held a number of senior roles in Finance and Sales Operations across the Asia Pacific region. Tony is a CPA, GAICD and also holds a Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of New England.
