City of Greater Dandenong

City of Greater Dandenong

The City of Greater Dandenong is the most culturally diverse community in Victoria and is located approximately 24km south-east of Melbourne.

It is a city of opportunity with quality buildings, places and facilities, and where people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds can reach their potential to live secure, happy and fulfilling lives for generations to come. It is a great place to live, work and invest, with great people for neighbours, colleagues and friends.

Greater Dandenong is a place where people from all cultures and nations are welcomed, involved and well cared for and achievements are recognised and proudly celebrated.  As the regional capital of the south-east, Greater Dandenong is working to build a dynamic sustainable future for the community.

The City of Greater Dandenong Disability Policy and Disability Action Plan 2010-14 was developed in consultation with the community and Council staff through Council’s Disability Consultative Framework. The Disability Action Plan highlights Council’s commitment to access and inclusion for all people, and outlines Council’s response to various legislative responsibilities including the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Greater Dandenong has a strong commitment to the empowerment of individuals from all groups and provides a number of services that seek to strengthen the capacity of the community. The Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 provides an overarching framework for all of the City of Greater Dandenong’s decision. Diversity of culture, ability, age, gender, faith and sexuality are considered in the development and delivery of all services.
