The Commonwealth Bank is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated financial services including retail, business and institutional banking, funds management, superannuation, insurance, investment and broking services. The Bank is one of the largest listed companies on the Australian Stock Exchange and is included in the Morgan Stanley Capital Global Index.
We have worked with other member banks through the Australian Bankers’ Association, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and various community groups to develop and implement industry-wide voluntary Disability Standards.
The collaborative work already undertaken has formed the basis for our Disability Action Plan (DAP). The DAP we have developed provides the ongoing framework for improving access to our services for customers and for giving our staff with disabilities a better work environment. The goal of our DAP is to achieve greater awareness among our customers and staff of the principle of inclusion that underpins our service and employment philosophy.
We have also developed a guide for team leaders working with people who have a disability, which provides information about:
- why all team members are important to the Bank
- performance feedback and reviews for staff with a disability
- information about disabilities and support available.
