Capability Review of NDIA released

Thu 20 March 2014

An independent review of the capability of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), the Agency in charge of delivering the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), has been released today.

The review reported both positive and negative findings.  Many people with disability have already benefited from the NDIS, and safisfaction from participants was very high, however significant problems were identified within the NDIA.

Key problems identified included ICT systems not fit for purpose, poor internal communications, late appointment of the Board, and a focus on short-term targets rather than long-term planning.

The NDIA Board, which commissioned the independent review, is pleased that the review provides clear guidance on where the NDIA needs to strengthen performance. A follow up review will be conducted in one year to ensure the NDIA is developing on the right path.

A full copy of the review report is available on the NDIS website.
