New Manager’s Guide to Disability Inclusion Launched
Wed 6 December 2017
The third edition of our popular Manager’s Guide to Creating a Disability Inclusive Workplace launched at the Australian Network on Disability (AND)’s annual cocktail party.
A resource designed to help managers, supervisors and team leaders effectively support employees with disability, the Guide provides tips, examples, statistics and expert advice. It addresses every stage of the employment lifecycle, from recruitment to onboarding and retention.
“Understanding what disability is – and actively working to negate stereotypes surrounding disability – will help you build confidence in managing people, whatever their personal circumstances.” (excerpt)
Developed in collaboration with AND members, Australian Human Rights Commission, Thomson Geer Lawyers, managers of people with disability, and individuals with lived experience of disability, this is an essential publication for every Australian organisation.
“An inclusive environment can do more than enhance the workplace itself; it can also boost your organisation’s brand image and relationship with the community and customers.” (excerpt)
Distributed to local businesses at Penrith City Council’s recent breakfast networking events, the Guide was used to help break down negative perceptions around employing and supporting people with disability.
“It was great to have the Manager’s Guide available to people attending our event. We felt secure in knowing that some accurate, comprehensive and useful information was in a tangible format for people to take home and implement, that backed up all that we were trying to promote,” said Disability Inclusion Officer Claire Galvin.
The Guide is available to order in both print and HTML formats. With the option to customise the HTML version for your organisation, it can be easily shared on your intranet or through other digital channels.
