"The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is proud to shine a purple light on our talented employees with disability by lighting our iconic public spaces purple in support of IDPwD." – Steve Hartley, Acting Deputy Secretary Place, Design and Public Spaces - Department of Planning Industry and Environment.
#PurpleLightUp 24-hour Global Broadcast was a first of its kind, and highly insightful virtual event celebrating the value and economic contributions of people with disability worldwide! This powerful global event connected over 2000 individuals from 60 countries exploring best practice, sharing experiences, and celebrating the skills and capabilities people with disability bring to the workforce.
For 3.5 hours AND hosted the Oceania region before passing the baton onto Asia. We would like to thank all our members who contributed to the event. To the Champions for their knowledge and expertise, Stepping Into Alumni for sharing their experiences, our panel members who shared their personal leadership journeys and Employee Resource Groups for their passion, energy and insights. Our voices were unified that day. We came together as individuals, businesses and community members to celebrate and acknowledge people with disability.
The #PurpleLightUp party with a purpose was an abundance of positive energy, connections, and celebration. During the 24-hour global broadcast there were 32 panel discussions and sessions featuring over 100 speakers from 6 continents! If you missed the event or want to re-watch your favourite sessions, recordings will be available till Thursday 17 December, don’t miss out!
