Government reiterates its support for the NDIS
Thu 23 January 2014
In an interview with ABC Radio Tasmania, Assistant Minister for Social Services, Senator Mitch Fifield, reiterated the government’s support for the NDIS, which he said should be above partisan politics.
“I think all parties should come together and say we’re committed to the NDIS,” he said, “we want it to work, we want to deliver it and we’re going to set this aside from the day to day political ruck.”
Tasmania is one of the first sites to roll out the NDIS. The NDIS first quarter’s results shows that package costs are higher than what was anticipated, but Senator Fifield said the government will continue its commitment to the scheme.
“There are a series of agreements which are in place between the Commonwealth and the States and Territories and we are honouring those,” he said.
