Emma joined the team at Australian Network on Disability (AND) as a Project Manager in 2018. She has over 15 years' experience working in the community sector in both the disability and housing and homelessness fields.
Emma’s career path began with direct practice in the disability field and has wound its way through support work, to coordination, leading teams, and case management. Emma also undertakes volunteer work as a Team Leader at WIRE – Women’s Information.
This work, and her own lived experience of disability, has made Emma passionate about working to support and empower people to attain the opportunity to fully participate in the community through employment. Emma strongly believes in the capacity, and right, of people with disability to be economic and social participants in Australia. Emma is currently working on AND's Connect50 project, which will link 50 talented university and TAFE students in regional areas with internship opportunities.
A constant student, Emma holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Disability Studies) and a Master of Arts (Writing and Literature) from Deakin University, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Melbourne.
