Connect50 is an internship project that will see businesses across Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Latrobe Valley offer paid internships to 50 talented university and TAFE students with disability by 2020.
For employers, Connect50 is a unique opportunity to connect with talented university and TAFE students with disability and realise the benefits of a more diverse and inclusive workforce. For students, it’s a chance to gain vital work experience, grow self-confidence and benefit from an enhanced pathway to employment.
The impact of Connect50 goes above and beyond the employers and students that participate in it. The project is modelled on the enormous success of our Stepping Into™ internship program, which has proved the far-reaching and sustainable benefits of a demand-led approach to employment of people with disability. It also facilitates valuable new linkages with TAFEs and universities and ensures a deeper understanding of employer needs and talent pipelines in regional Victoria.
The Australian Network on Disability was selected to deliver the project, which is funded by the Victorian Government as part of its economic participation plan for people with disability 2018-2020.
